Friedrich, the son of company founder Christoph Seeberger, discovered his passion for really good espresso and coffee 175 years ago. What distinguishes the espresso bean from the coffee bean?

In addition to the taste, the secret of the difference between espresso and coffee beans lies in the roasting process. Espresso is also made from coffee beans that are refined over a longer roasting process. Gentle long-term roasting ensures that the beans take on a dark color and an intense aroma. If you want to enjoy real Italian espresso, it is therefore important to buy special espresso beans.

What are Arabica and Robusta beans?

The most common types used to make espresso are Arabica and Robusta beans. Visually, the only difference between the two coffee beans is the size and a small incision in the middle of the Arabica bean. In terms of aroma, however, the Robusta bean is significantly stronger, making it the perfect variety for a full-bodied espresso. Mixtures of the two varieties, also known as blends, are also very popular when buying espresso beans.

Can I use espresso beans for my coffee?

Of course you can buy espresso beans and use them for your coffee. Espresso beans have a dark roast and have a more intense flavor than coffee beans. They can therefore give your coffee that little bit extra. However, please note that not every palate likes this intensity. If you are not a fan of strong coffee, you should approach this carefully to find the perfect balance.
